I see different engine block heaters out there, seems the internal probe type looks the best.
Wolverine magnet type?? Like to get some feed and do it right the first time. Anyone out there using them.?

Re: Block heaters in 315 SLP
I have posted on this before but I may be the only one with a block heater. Mine is a circulating type sold by Cummins and it keeps the engine at 70 F. I fish year around and the engine starts instantly. But it is also supposed to reduce the internal rusting from condensation when the daytime temperature and humidity rises above that of a cold engine block. There is also a probe type that goes into a freeze plug opening which may be fine but probably does not give as uniform of temperature throughout.

Re: Block heaters in 315 SLP
My previous boat had the freeze plug style block heater and a thermostat on the opposite side of the engine that was set at 120 F. I kept it on 24/7 in the spring and fall, kept the salon floor nice and warm. Next time I would opt for the 70 F thermostat. They are made by Fleetguard.
I also had one on a Dodge/Cummins truck for many years. I'd use a heavy duty timer set for 2 hours before I left for work on the winter. was nice to have instant heat in the cab.
You can also get an oil pan pad style. They also work very well. Wolverive make good quality ones in that style.
Hope this helps.
