Word of mouth has lead me to this forum. Another Albin owner @ Cove Marina told me of the help he has received here. Looking for some of the same.
Specifically, looking for help with 3 problems:
Corrosion / leakage of ruder post.
Leakage from bilge into keel section.
Leakage from top deck sealant around cockpit.
I imagine these subjects must have been discussed in prior postings.
How do I reference them?

I just joined as well. I live in Newbury and new to the boating world. I just picked up a 27 Family cruiser. I hope to keep it in the Parker River. I hope to see you out this season.

Welcome aboard skips.
Use the search function in the forums of the boats you own or skip around. Lots of good & practical boat specific on the AOG. You can always post a new topic in the forum under your model or General Disc. and someone is bound to have something to share.
HotWater, sure want to keep you dry coming out of the Merrimac. See you guys out and about Ipswich Bay & the Gulf of Maine!

A belated welcome to you Hot Water. I missed your original post back in Oct. I was not in regular internet access at the time. Not many 32 owners here on the forum but I are one of them.
Rudder post corrosion: I had to dismantle mine a few years back, clean up everything, repack it, make sure the ground wire is indeed tied in with the rest of the grounding system, & it has been trouble free since.
Leakage from the cockpit: No problems from sealant leaking but the whole engine hatch system is not very good.
Not sure what you mean by leakage into the bilge. The only way water can come in is through the stuffing box. A little of that is normal during & just after use.

I am planning on fixing up the rudder post exactly as you describe.
Suspect that the ground wire may not actually be properly connected, because that was the first connection I cleaned and secured.
(Believe the other end may be the problem)
As for leaks, my problem is definalty coming from the sealant on the topside of the gunnels.
I cut in new rod holders and found the balsa core soaked and rotted.
This is where all of the water runs down and collects from the fordeck and sides.
I tried redoing the sealant, but didn't do a very good (attractive) job.
Thinking of either trying again, or perhaps even fiberglassing?
Any suggestions?

There is a product called Git Rot. Never used it. Been awhile since I've seen it, not that I've been looking for it either. If I remember correctly the idea is that it soaks into the rotted wood then hardens up. Worth a try. Anything else is might be major surgery.

Git Rot is still available. I used some a few weeks ago to repair a small area around the exterior of a bathroom window. Have also used it in the past on boat repairs. Works for me.

Thanks for the info on git Rot, I'll definately give it a try.
I may also send pix about set up on the rudder post.
I have looked at this several time before takingit apart -something is wrong.
It almost looks backwards - like the packing nut is bahind the securing ring.
It's hard to explain, that's why I'm thinking I need to send pictures.
When you changed your rudder post was there anything special about the installation +/or replacement?

Re: New Member, Newburyport, MA - 3 yr Owner 32+2
No change of post was necessary for mine. It just involved a good cleaning out of salt & crud, a good greasing & new packing. By the time the job was done hand turning the rudder was easy. That was 4 years ago. I imagine things are all dried out & gunky again by now. My boat has been on the hard for over a year, & will stay there for at least another year.
