follow up to mail box pic's

Post by Bob »

To those who responded to my mail box picture, I''m glad you got a kick out of it. to Mariner and Joe. Baar who wanted to know how I did it I offer the following: I had an original Albin sales brochure that had an excellent picture of an Albin 27. I had it blown up to several sizes that I thought would work. Then traced it on to mail box using standard carbon paper. Then tested a number of paints and methods of applying, let dry then rubbed with steel wool to see which would stand up the best. You're not going to believe it but a Sharpie pen won out !! One side of mail box I sprayed with a clear coat the other side plain just to see which would wear best. If you are interested in doing something like this I'd be glad to send you the picture I used and a few other suggestions. The very smooth surface of the box is a challange, and no I'm not and artist.

Mail Box, continued

Bob,
Thanks very much for letting us know this. Mine's a 28TE so I'll use a different graphic. Years ago I dabbled in converting high-contrast photos to drawings so there are some possibilities.

Line drawings available

Post by DrNickS »

I have several line drawing versions, one with running gear, others at waterline, both port and starboard views. When I try to post them to my photo section I get an error message, "Impossible to move." I have downloaded before with no problems.

So...I will add attachments to this message. They will be small lower resolution than the originals. I can email copies to anyone interested.
