Hello all,
My engine abruptly shut down while I was cruising. I checked the fuel filter, and no issue. No air in the line because it was running fine for hours.
The engine turns over but won't start. After doing some research, the fuel shut-off solenoid is the most probable cause of a sudden shutdown.
I found Yanmar Fuel Shut Off Solenoid Valve 6LP-STP 119773-51980 in the $350 range, but I think it's very high. I was told that an after-market valve will work, but I don't know which one.
Has anyone experienced similar issues and replaced it with an aftermarket Solenoid valve?

Re: Yanmar 6LP STE 315HP fuel shut off solenoid valve replacement
I had a spare Yanmar solenoid on my boat, it was $50 or $60.
Also look at the safety neutral switch on the tranny, if it fails the engine won’t start.
