Boarding ladder, lousy design

Post by Legasea »

So on our 32+2 the boarding ladder is permanently attached to the transom. Since we are in saltwater, that means the ladder sits partially underwater all season. As the season progresses, it gets slimy and gets growth on it. I only had this boat for one season, but what we decided to do was just leave it unpainted and scrub it when we could. Do you think it’s better to use bottom paint from the waterline down on this ladder? What do others do?

Do you have a swim platform? On our 35CB, we have a telescoping ladder that is mounted under the swim platform. It's well clear of the water. Maybe your swim platform is integral to the hull in which case a different type of ladder might work better for you.
