Free to a good home: I have an original table base from a 2TE that I no longer need. If anyone wants it it's yours for the cost of shipping. (I live in North Carolina.) What I have is the aluminum column with the moveable strut and spring, the circular base that mounts to the floor and the four-arm aluminum top piece that screws to the underside of the table. When I bought the boat a couple of years ago the table was stuck in the "down" position. I bought a replacement base and was about to throw the old one out, but just for kicks I decided to see if I could free it up. So now, after about a year of PB Blaster treatment, lo and behold, it's operating again. I don't know if the upward force is equal to what it was when new, but it does fully extend upward when the clamp is loosened.
So if anyone is interested, email me please at brwri@aol.com I do have pictures that I can email.

Re: Surplus Table Base 28TE
A year of PB Blaster! Wow! That must set some kind of record! And do you know how to have fun or what?
My husband is seriously impressed!

OK, so I have to confess: I didn't actually spray it everyday for a whole year. But it seemed like every day and it did go on for a long time.

I didn't really think you did. It sounds a lot like an icemaker that quit working in a previous refrigerator of ours. Googled it, took it apart, put it back together. Nada. Researched new ones. Got sick of thinking about it. It was winter, didn't need a lot of ice, used ice trays. One day out of the blue -- click click clunk. It started working on its own.

Re: Surplus Table Base 28TE
Bruce,
Just bought a 2005 28TE and can't get the table to lift up. Removed post from base and sprayed just about everything on it with no luck. Have to remove and insert a pipe and hit with deadblow hammer to get it to move. Currently soaking but think it is too corroded. If you still have the post I could put it to good use. I am in Wilmington, NC.
thanks

Tony, Sorry, it's long gone. I feel your pain. I did what you're doing and finally got mine freed up, but it was a real struggle. I'm in Oriental, BTW.

Re: Surplus Table Base 28TE
Thanks for quick reply. I used my press to extract the inner tube and then removed the plastic insert it travels up and down with. Shaved some of the plastic off the inside and have it moving freely. Also locks up nice and tight.
