Fresh water pressure
Hello AOG. I have a 2000 32+2 CB. After a few minutes of running fresh water in the sink (or shower), the pressure reduces to near zero. Anyone know what this could be from?

Re: Fresh water pressure
Is there a strainer in front of the pump? Any debris in it? What about in the faucet aerators?
Also, do you have an accumulator tank? Does it need to have air added to it?

Not sure. How do I tell if I have an accumulator tank. The fresh water tanks are under the floor of the forward cabin and very hard to get to.

Re: Fresh water pressure
Accumulator/pressure tanks are usually located next to or near the fresh water pump. On our boat, the pump is below the aft dinette seat above the port battery. The setup looked like this before we eliminated the accumulator tank.

I’ll check. Do you know how an accumulator tank works?

Re: Fresh water pressure
You should have a strainer between the pump and water tank. Albin's aluminum water tanks will produce a white crystal as a reaction with chlorinated city water. The crystals will clog the strainer, or pump if you don't have one. I filter the city water with an RV water filter on the hose (link below) which removes the chlorine and stopped the crystal formation.
The accumulator tank has a pressurized bladder inside that reduces pump cycling, not essential particularly with modern pumps but can help smooth out flow and reduce pump cycles.

Re: Fresh water pressure
Thanks! I'll take a look for both. Because the water pressure starts out strong and then decreases to a dribble, I suspect it may be a clogged air intake for the water tank. But damned if I can find it!
