Refrigerator question

Hello, I just bought an 04 28 TE. The refer had been removed and I need to replace it.
Any thoughts on what to get? AC or DC or both AC/DC? Brand? Model? I would like to have a same-fit, screw-in installation.
I don't want to spend more than I paid for the boat.

There's been lots of discussion about refrigerators. Do a search on "refrigerator" or "fridge". Short answer: Isotherm Cruise 49 Elegance is a good solution. DC only is fine. So is AC/DC. Decision is sometimes driven by availability or price.

Agree on the 49 elegance (interior volume 49 liters)
I had to make the opening bigger, it was a bit of a project but the end result was great.
All the details in my fridge thread.
No need for a more expensive AC/DC as the battery charger will feed the batteries if you have shore power.

Is the cruise 49 classic the same size as the 49 elegance? I'm still looking. Do those models have a reversible door and a light inside? the depth says 18 inches. Does that account for the rear of the area where the hull tapers in?

Probably best to call Isotherm or check the specs on their website. We have found that the dimensions vary between models. I'm sure that all models have an interior light.

DC only is the way to go IMO. I had to raise the bottom up on what I installed in our 99. I used a Cruise 49 stainless for the new unit.

AC/DC was $100 more than just DC when I shopped 2020 or so.
I you have an old battery charge without the 3 stage programs and without temperature compensation, then AC may be the way to go, but I have used DC fridge and freezers in all my boats.
