Deck coring material for a 2005 flush deck.

Post by RockAndReel »

Does anyone know what the deck coring material is on a 2005 28 TE flushdeck? I have a small soft spot on a hatch cover that I need to repair.

Thanks

Most likely a foam material called Airex or some such thing.
Albin went from balsa wood to a syndetic foam before April 2001 if memory serves right.
That being said, I did find plywood coring on my 2001 in the hardtop and Airex foam under deck in the stringers.

My 2000 has balsa core in the hardtop, but my deck is cored with closed cell foam (not sure if it is Airex or not). I don't know about the actual hatch covers though.

My 2002 had wood core in the floor hatches. When I had them rebuilt, he used a no rot type of filler instead of wood. I didn’t want the problem again for me or any owners down the road .
