Hi. I'm Dustin. My wife and I are looking for a boat to cruise the great loop and considering an Albin.
We ultimately want a sailboat for cruising the Caribbean, but tall masts don't work well for the loop. I was initially thinking I could get one boat (41' monohull) and use it for both purposes... pull down the mast for the loop. But that's a lot of headache, and the draft was pushing it anyway, so I'm thinking we could do the loop on a 25 or 27' Albin instead.

One of my goals. I recently purchased a 25 “” motorsailer “” Has a mast & motor. Doubt I’ll use the mast. The ole boat was sea worthy at one point in her life. ( one owner took it the Bahamas every winter). She now needs some lovins and some rubbing. I love 200 miles from the gulf. But close to several rivers and lakes. So we shall see how it plays out. The “”Great Loop”” is a bucket list item.

Welcome aboard Dustin! Lot's of Albin guys "come over to the dark side" to Albin 25's & 27's from years of owning sailboats. I'm one of them too. Having a smaller trailerable boat that you can take over the road anywhere without the hassle of mast raising yet have the same fuel efficiency of a sailboat under power is one of the biggest appeals of the 25. Here's my story for just what you have in mind. We've done some of Erie Canal, but our favorite cruising ground is the Pacific Northwest
