Albin 28 TE - best place to mount USCG documentation number board?

Post by GSSeattle »

My 28 TE is USCG documented, but I'm pretty sure the required documentation number board was never mounted. Anyone else on here have their 28 documented, and if so, where is the best place to display the numbers on the interior? (not referring to state registration numbers, but USCG documentation)

Here are the USCG requirements:
The official number assigned to documented vessels, preceded by the abbreviation "NO." must be marked in block-type Arabic numerals at least three inches high on some clearly visible interior structural part of the hull. The number must be permanently affixed so that alteration, removal, or replacement would be obvious and cause some scarring or damage to the surrounding hull area.

Mine had it painted in black letters/numbers on the stringer from the hatch in front of the engine box.

Thank you! That seems like a good place for it.

Nearly all the vessels I have done Vessel Safety Checks on have the numbers on either an engine room stringer or bulkhead.

So the numbers are out of site unless you open a hatch?
