Removal of Exhaust Elbow with Boat in the Water

Post by JFOkie »

Hello,

I want to remove the exhaust elbow and check it out for corrosion, but would like to do it while the boats in the water. It's a 1987 Albin 27 FC with a Nissan LD28, not sure if the removal of the elbow could result in water coming in from the exhaust, like back syphoning. I'm going to see if I can use a 6"-8" piece of PVC, cap one end and put the other end in the exhaust hose and clamp it while I remove the elbow.

Would appreciate some feedback.

Thanks,
John

If you're proceeding while in the water, be sure that the exhaust elbow is "well above" the water line.
