New member with questions

Post by Hattsoff »

Hi all, I just bought a 28 and I would like to know what to look for some of the negatives and positives. She is a 1995 with the GM 300 HP

Thank you

Congrats and welcome.

Don’t know nothing about the GM motor, but those who run them things seems to be happy.

I love my -28TE, great boat, seaworthy and perfect for our use. (Florida-Bahamas, year around)

Negatives would be previous owner’s lack of maintenance, quite common on these tubs:
I rejected 2 Albin 28TE’s after survey and sea trial before I bought this one.

What were some of the reasons you rejected them?

Shitty maintenance, but I am anal, unfortunately.

Hello All does anybody know the prop pitch for the 28TE with the 310 hp GM diesel? My book says diameter is 18 inches but nothing about the pitch or blades. Thank you

No idea, but for reference: My 28TE with the Yanmar 300HP seems to like the 19X18 four blade prop with no cup.

No cup with a zero taper skeg keel? That's not ideal.

No idea, props are not my specialty.

If you know something I should tell my Prop-Shop, I am all for it, really.

Albin did nothing as to adding any taper to the keel or adding a "nose" behind it to improve water flow to the prop. Cup makes the prop "grab" the water better - cuts down on slippage, ventilation, etc etc. I've run different props and different cups on my 28TE and the medium (aka 5 cup) was best.
