sea strainer

Post by Longo »

Hello all,

question - have my Albin down to the fiberglass for barrier coating and in the process removed the two bronze scoop strainers from the hull. A previous owner installed full sea strainers inside the boat, the ones that can be opened, screen basket removed and cleaned. My question - do i need both - the ones on the hull and the sea strainers on the inside?? I would love to leave the scoop strainers on the hull off being that i have two very nice sea strainers in the bilge.

Thanks!!
John.

I have both on my boat. I don't see a reason to remove either one.

The scoop strainers do an excellent job of keeping plastic bags and similar junk from being sucked into the inlet.
