Hi All -

Thanks to Elizabeth Ann for referring me to this site. It is much needed, and I hope it flourishes.

I’m Tom, have a 1998 Albin 31, 450C Cummins in Charleston, SC. I was briefly an Albin dealer in the mid-nineties, and spent a lot of time on, and sold a number of 28s and few 32s. I’m not current, like Albinflorida, but I’ll try to chime in where I have some experience.

Anyhow, thanks for the site. I correspond with a couple of other 31 owners who I will point this way.

Welcome, I'm new here too. Beautiful boat you have there. How do you like the Cummins engine? How has the service been on the engine?

Cummins service has been great. That's a product of a reliable engine and a knowledgeable mechanic. My mechanic, owner of Marine Propulsion in Rockville, SC, rebuilds Cummins engines for resale and knows them inside and out. His father worked at the Cummins plant building the engines.

Other than regular maintenance, the only thing I’ve had to replace is the starter, and that was because it got wet, and a coolant hose. (See overheating post.) Engine has 800+ hours on it.
