Navigation Lights

Post by saltyboats »

I am restoring a 2001, 28TE and the bow nav lights are the originals and the lenses seem to be UV destroyed and the bulbs burned out. I took these bow lights off and had to do some surgery to the electrical contacts to get power to the contacts. After all this work, I can not seem to find replacement bulbs for these antiques.

So which brand and model number should I look for to replace these lights so I can have bright LED's and a white plastic housing that will somewhat match the original design?

A few people have used Hella Marine NaviLED Pro - https://www.defender.com/product3.jsp?p ... &id=586088. They sure are pretty.

I'm surprised you can't find bulbs for the existing fixtures, but if the lenses are shot, that may drive your decision.

Thanks. The bulb cost and availability seem to be an issue or maybe I am not just looking in the right places. But if the bulb replacement cost is half the cost of a new LED light fixture, I think this is a no brainer to replace the entire light especially with a UV damaged lens.

Yikes - hard to imagine the replacement bulbs are $50! But if the lenses are bad, new fixtures will be really nice to have.

You probably have Aqua Signal Series 41's (they also come in white) https://www.defender.com/product3.jsp?p ... 1&id=65014

Lamps for these are $22 for incandescent and $40ish for LEDs.

Defender also sells the replacement lenses.

Also replace red with red LED, Green with Green LED. White LED will always be white through a green lens and red will be pink. Green light has a longer wave length being something to do with the reason!!
