Expected Life of the 315 Yanmar's?

Post by whwells »

Wondering what the maximum hours the AOG Member's have put on the Yanmar 315. Anyone with
5,000 hours, 10,000 hours, 15,000 hours.

Doubtful anyone will have reached the 10 to 15 number's unless the boat is used for commercial reasons.
I am aware of a couple failures of the 315 one due to failure to timely change the timing belt and the other just failed for no clear reasons.

Member's some of you must have a thought on the likely life of the 315 Yanmar either based upon age or hours or both?

I’m just about to hit 2000 hours - I know of one commercially that was removed from the boat at 12000 hours and put in another commercial fishing boat.

Tree thanks for the follow up. Your hours are pretty typical for the age of the Albin's with the 315 Yanmar.
The Commercial hours is interesting.

990 hours now, pretty optimistic about the future.
No known long term problems if one does the basic stuff, like timing belt, anodes, oil/filter and proper coolant.
If you ignore all of the above, bad things may happen..😳
