What a day!

Post by DougSea »

So last week I decided to take today off (Columbus Day). Little did I know it would be 88 (!) degrees and sunny! Unbelievable!

The girls and I took Sonny III for what will be one of the last trips of the season. Most of the club moorings have been pulled and mine comes out next week. I'll be moving her over to her winter marina where I'm hoping they'll let me sit in a slip for a few weeks before haul out. We just couldn't believe that this was October! Felt more like August! Had a nice short cruise down the coast from Norwalk to Greenwich harbor (just to the west of Albin's home on the Mianus river). Had a nice lunch and then had to get back so that my daughter could make it to hockey practice  Hockey and 88 degrees in New England. There's a combo for you!

Here's a shot of the ladies as we pulled away in the whaler. "Captain" Kat at the helm:

I went down to "check" the boat yesterday. It was so calm and the tide was so high, I had to take a cruise to nowhere. Just floated around for a couple of hours. Didn't take the camera. It's beautiful now. A real indian summer.

Frame that picture.

We were at the fells point festival in Baltimore on Sunday. And i can tell you after baking for 3 hours, this is no Indian Summer. Maybe a Death Valley summer but not an indian summer.

No it's a long run up there in our 20' shamrock with a wife and three kids. I wasn't too upset as it looked like the folks on the boats were baking too. At least the car had air conditioning!!!!

I never thought I would say this, but I'm actually jealous of your weather right now.

This last week has been stormy, cold, and wet in the Northwest. Pretty typical for October here, but it changed from summer to fall a little faster than normal here. September stayed nice right up until the end, and October was cold within the first few days.

The nice part, though, is that this is about as bad as it gets. And yesterday and today have actually been dry and relatively clear with views of the mountains that knock your socks off. Cold though. Highs in the 50's.
