Long Weekend Away

Post by Tree »

240 miles covered and 400 litres of fuel burnt - what a weekend!

32 turbot in total and one Brill. The Plaice fishing was slow as was the bream fishing but the weather made up for it. Flat, mirror calm conditions all weekend!

You bring back happy memories of fishing on the seaward side of the Needles. Very jealous, and glad to see you had such a great weekend, and grabbed some nice flatties as well - bonus.

It was a bit of a difficult weekend. The last time I did this was with my father who passed away suddenly two years ago. FP2 was owned between the pair of us and now I’ve taken over his share. I ran the boat the 60 miles single handed before picking my mate up at Portland. He couldn’t stay on the Monday so had to head home. I ran the boat back single handed which gave me some time to reflect the good times I had with with my dad. This was one of the main reasons we bought the albin between us and as some of you may remember I’ve been thinking about chopping her in for something different. She performed faultlessy even with 1900 hours on the clock and I suppose I now have a new bond with her. I’ll be doing many more trips like this with her for a while I think!
