Engine Temperatures

Post by Dave »

If anyone has an Izuzu 160 HP Diesel what temperature are you running. Mine is usually 180F but sometimes creeps up to 185F.
The motor works great but the temperature does concern me a bit.

That's actually pretty low. Our engine is considerably larger (420 hp Caterpillar 3126B), but it runs at about 195 degrees most of the time.

I'm glad this thread started. I'd like to compare notes.
I have the Peninsular 400TA (310HP)
My temp is 180-185 until 3000 RPM. Then I am just under 200.

When fully warmed up, Yanmar 315 runs just under 180 F.

My 300HP Peninsular has a 160 degree thermostat and that is what it shows while running.
