Fuel Gauge Doesn't Work When Nav Lights are On

Post by Nealkaiser »

Hello! I'm a new owner of a 99 28' TE. I noticed that the fuel gauge does not work whenever the nav lights are on. It just stays on empty. As soon as you flip off the nav lights it shoots up. Any ideas what that might be?

Thanks.

It sounds like someone wired the fuel gauge to the nav light switch. When the switch is flipped to the right the nav light are on. When it is flipped to the left the anchor light should be on. Is this the position that turns on the fuel gauge? If you look behind the panel from the medicine chest in the head you can trace the fuel gauge wires and move them. My fuel gauge is connected to the electronics switch, If you cannot access the wires from the back you can also remove the screws in the panel and pull it forward.

Just a thought, but I might not fix that.
When my nav lights are on I would like my dash to be darker than it is. Maybe the last owner did it on purpose.
Just Sayin.

Good luck
