Clean aftercooler surprise

Post by Paddy »

So I bought my Albin in June'13 with 588 on its Yanmar, proceeded to put 723 more hours on a boat that was 100% saltwater since new. Just dropped it in today for the season, and at 1311 hours, I decided that it was time to pull the aftercooler. The darn thing was spotless, and when I mean spotless, my wife even commented that the inner core looks new. I did a light powerwasher on the fins and lightly rodded the completely clear pipes for the heck of it. Greased everything up, added new o-rings, and bolted it back on. Hoping the heat exchanger is just as uneventful. I do use the boat 3-4 times a week, so that might explain the lack of growth, but still it was a nice surprise.

Still a long day but no need to pull the acid out!
