Thanks, Zeke. I was looking at that latch on Defender last night and wondering if it would work.

Mike, I'm having a hard time visualizing how you fasten the bungee cord to the door. I'm guessing that's because I don't know what a v-loop bungee is.

I think our door is very standard. The panel closest to the wall is secured with a hook. The other panel (the one most visible in the photo) flaps when the boat rocks enough. The Velcro disks are located at the top corner of the door panels where the red arrow is pointing.

This is what I use to hold the door together. https://www.amazon.com/Keeper-06345-Can ... B000G76PLA
There is a stainless hook on the wall that holds the one section. Then with the bungee pulled over both sections it stops it from flopping around.

Nancy, you can take any piece of small line and tie a loop to drop down on the doors. A shoestring would work. I also think of this as securing the main door when open not closed.

I put a nylon strap with snaps on the door, but I like the ball catch way better.

This is the original product

These would also work

What is used to keep the door open? My hook was missing when I got the boat, so I made a wire, but would like to know what was original on the lavatory side on a 28TE

I meant to answer this last summer, Russell. I love a simple, low-tech solution. We ended up connecting two long Velcro straps, wrapping them around the top of the door, and snugging up. Works great!

Beachman, our door has a pretty standard Perko-type cabin door hook.
