Some surveyor’s should be renamed “deal-breakers” as they just bring out nothing but negative and fog your head so bad you can’t see past the problems.
Unless it’s real major, just use the survey list of problems as a negotiating tool and in this market you should do just fine. Since the season was coming to an end I dragged my deal out for over 2 months and got it to rock-bottom and then when the survey was done I was able to negotiate even further. My deal was this exact time of year which is certainly another strong bonus for you.
As long as you factor the survey problem items into the final price do not let them discourage you. Better that there are issues found now than to have a bunch of things all go wrong “after” the deal. Plus making everything “right” will allow you to personalize her and become more familiar with everything onboard.
Getting back to the topic of this thread…..TOY-RIFIC was purchased last Nov and ran home to Moriches from Rhode Island Nov 30th last year. She is docked in Center Moriches just minutes from the infamous Moriches Inlet. We frequent the waters between the Great South Bay and Shinnecock. We also run to Montauk, the Peconics, LI Sound, CT River and everywhere in between.
Our 28TE has been perfect for our mixed bag of cruising, fishing and diving.
It seems you are learning quickly that this site is been a great source of information & entertainment. I usually check in to AOG in the early morning.
I lived in the Morris Park (Pelham Pkwy) section of the Bronx for years, and had my share of good times at the bars on Bell and Northern Blvds. I’ve been to the World’s Fair Marina looking at boats more than once. I also work in Manhattan and Queens a couple days a week so hopefully I’ll get a peek at Maholo in the near future
Keep us posted and good luck closing the deal….. Just remember they want the deal done as much or probably more than you!
