Trailer roller setup for A25

Post by SamNassar »

As I progress through the process of getting my A25 refitted with the Yanmar I have noticed that the most aft trailer rollers will need to be “raised “ , adjusted, upward about 7-8” from the current location. I should mention that the trailer is quite robust and didn’t come with the boat. For moving around the yard and for work on the inside the support is adequate but the boat is not supported by the rear rollers and would not travel very well. I have mocked up the roller brackets to where I think they should be but I wonder if they being higher will make launching and recovery difficult?
Also I have a F150 truck for the tow vehicle is that adequate?
I have enjoyed the challenge of getting the boat back on the water with the caveat that this is not a financial win just a diversion and a reason to get dirty and use my tools. My expectation is that I will have more money invested in the trailer than the boat itself. Being trailerable is why I got involved with this boat so the trailer is very important. The boat was very nice when I bought it but it didn’t have an engine, that is pretty well done now. The latest controversy is with the very detailed propeller shop not familiar with the Albin drive components along with the flexible Yanmar mounts. I really want to work with them as to how the propeller fits in the space between the cutlass bearing and the rudder. That is determined by the total shaft length. I would like to have an inch or two of shaft exposed after the cutlass bearing they insist on one shaft diameter,1”. Any way I would like to know what you think about the trailer setup?
Thanks Sam
