I have a 35 TE twin Cummins, whats the difference between a macerator at the toilet and the macerator activated from the control panel.
Maybe the macerator noise at the toilet is actually a fresh water pump

Is the discharge under the boat or is discharge on the side of the boat above

Yes. Macerator at the toilet pushed it to the tank. (Usually). The other macerator will empty your tank overboard, with the right valve lineup.
