New member and new boat
Figured I'd say hi. As i have been reading the forums a bit. Just recently purchased a 98 albin 28. It's in the process of getting a small refit and having some fiberglass work done soon.

Me too! It would require entirely new forum software -- a big project and a big expense.

Re: New member and new boat
Hello, I’m in the final phase of purchasing an Albin 28TE, 2003, Yanmar 315 engine box model here in Florida. This coming Friday will be the survey. I expect it will pass since it has been well cared for. My SeaSprite 34 sailboat was wrecked last October in Hurricane Milton even tho it was hauled out. Loved that boat. Owned it 32 years ! No time for yards to get masts out with hurricanes approaching and many hauled sailboats were blown over off jackstands, hitting hard and destroying the hull & rig. Getting older, it seemed like a good idea to switch back to power. Also hauled out power boats had few to no issues in the hurricanes…No mast. This 28te resembles the lobster boat design i always admired. And I like the prop is protected. As they say in shallow west coast Florida: you haven’t been around unless you’ve been aground. A hinckley picnic was top choice but who can afford them? This forum has been great helping me research the TE. I’ve joined and made my donation. My main worry is for years I’ve had two sources of propulsion: the universal diesel and if that failed, sails - which never fail. Now I’ll be trusting that Yanmar. Hope it runs well.
