Albin 35CB Hull contruction

Post by hburckjr »

At what year did Albin stop using balsa coring and began using, I believe, Airex foam for the Command Bridge 35 hull below the waterline?
Thanks

Don't hold me to this, but I'm under the impression that all 35CBs have foam coring.

This publication was published on the Albin website in 2004. So looks like the change from Balsa to Airex foam was made some time before then.

My 1999 32+2 has a combination of balsa and foam cores in different areas. Albin did a good job of using solid laminate wherever they had thru hulls. Deck penetrations were well bedded but the sealant is aging so re-bedding (along with decoring and epoxy filling) is recommended. Fuel and water fills, rod holders, windlass mounting holes, etc should be addressed proactively in my opinion.
