Looking for some input on the stock/optimum shaft diameter for a 2006 28TE with a Yanmar 6LPA 315HP engine.
The boat in question is for sale and I'm in discussions with the seller. I had them send over all of the maintenance records and they highlighted that the prop shaft was replaced with 1 3/8". My mechanic thinks that prop is undersized for that engine and should be 1 1/2" minimum. He can't check it with his machine shop until Monday but I had set up an initial viewing for tomorrow morning and hoping to avoid the trip if this turns out to be an issue.
Any thoughts/guidance from past/current 28TE owners would be most appreciated.

Re: 2006 28TE Prop Shaft Diameter
my prop shaft is 1.5" in diameter, no idea why someone would down size to 1 - 3/8", but I am not a mechanic by any means............

It's odd that the shaft would be 1 3/8". It could be a measuring error.

Re: 2006 28TE Prop Shaft Diameter
I spoke with the owner yesterday - turns out it was an error on the invoice from the yard that replaced the shaft and they incorrectly put down 1 3/8". He ended up putting a micrometer on it to confirm it's a 1 1/2".
