Urgent Information Needed - prop puller

Post by Mark Laurnen »

I intend to visit my distant Albin 31TE in two weeks to replaced damaged propellers. Acquiring a prop puller anywhere has been surprisingly difficult, primarily due to the 1.75 shaft diameter. I have identified nice looking unit, the purchase of which would be non-refundable. The seller states its maximum opening distance is 6.5 inches. Do any of you know whether this span would be sufficient to fit my prop and the protruding shaft aft of it? I really appreciate all opinions! Thank you!

My 28TE had a tight area to pull the prop as I remember. The shipyard had a puller but it was a bit of a issue and needed lots of heat to get it broke loose. I would hire the shipyard to do it. Picture for scale... the zinc is the same size as original 3 or 4".
