Replacement Motor for 28' Albin TE Flush Deck
We had issues with our motor this year on the yearly shake down trip and long story short a valve rod dropped in the piston damaging the upper end of the Motor. It is a Yanmar 6LPA-STC Motor. We havent had much luck with marine diesel mechanics that will work on Yanmar's in AK and looking to find a rebuilt motor for sale in the lower 48 or good mechanic to ship it to for rebuild. Motor has been taken out already so could be shipped.

There is usually a few rebuilt 6LP (A)s on eBay, I would start there, but also talk to the nearest Yanmar dealer.

If there is no local support I wouldn’t be putting a yanmar back in it. How about Cummins?

There isnt much local Yanmar Support at all in AK. 2 Dealers that i know of and why i'm looking at other options. Does the Cummins fit in a TE Flushdeck in place of a Yanmar? Though just Yanmar had to be replaced like for like due to space constraints

Hopefully some others will chime in, but a quick google search shows you may be right. I never realized that the Cummins may not fit in a flush deck. That is a bummer!

It is a bummer and wish we could replace with not having to put a Yanmar back in.

Re: Replacement Motor for 28' Albin TE Flush Deck
Does anyone know what the M Stands for in a Yanmar 6LPAM-STP? Looking at buying this motor to replace our Yanmar 6LPA-STC and just want to make sure it will match up prior to buying it.
