All of a sudden Mazboot has started buzzing loudly from behind the dash panel on starting engine. Buzzing stops after a while and restarts every so often. It seems to be a relay (E1600)? that is the source of the annoyance. Removing the ground stops the buzzing, but then when I turn on the ignition the, what I assume is the light indicator and actual Buzzer for glow plugs no longer lights or legitimately buzzes (Yes, I'm a Liberal Arts guy with a toolbox). All dials are showing normal operation. Dipsticks show optimal fluid levels.
SO:
1) Is this a warning of more fun to come, or just a duff relay?
2) Can I still run without the relay?
3) Does anyone know where I can get an E1600 relay for a Lehman 4D61?
All inputs gratefully received

Re: Relay issue?
Usually when a relay buzzes it is not getting enough voltage to fully engage. I'd check the power feed for a loose or corroded connection as a first step. If everything is normal then try fitting a new relay.

Re: Relay issue?
Tried that, thanks dkirsop. Still noisy so i'm looking for an equivalent replacement relay for something that was probably installed in 1984. According to the parts list it's an "E1600" relay.
Bomac Guy - Wolf, in GA - says any "5/10" relay should do the job. The problem is that I have no idea what a"5/10" relay is.
Does ANYONE know?
