upgrade to LED bulbs

Post by Mike Monte »

The wife wants to spend some overnight mooring/hook time this upcoming season.
The above being said I would like to change all of the cabin-light and anchor light bulbs to LEDs to save on the battery.

My boat: '01 28TE

The cabin lights are the stainless steel ones, original to the boat.

Has anyone (with like fixtures) upgraded the bulbs to LED?
-also-
I would like to put LED bulbs in the anchor light above the radar arch.

Any info would be great.

Thanks,
M

Hi Mike --

There have been lots of discussions here about LED fixtures and bulbs. The short answer is yes, lots of people have changed to LED bulbs. The forum search function - search on "led bulbs" - will give you lots of good reading.

Once you identify what bulbs your fixtures take, it's pretty easy. The cabin fixtures are pretty standard across the 28TE's. The anchor lights can vary.

For the interior dome lights, I went cheap and purchased from Amazon. This description:
Antline T10 921 194 168 LED Bulbs Warm White 20-Packs, Super Bright 3014 42-SMD LED Replacement 12 Volt RV Camper Trailer Boat Trunk Interior Dome Map License Lights, Backup Reverse Lights

Only 1 year old, so I don't know how durable. But cheap enough. I have 2001 albin 31TE. Not sure if they used different fixtures!

Also, "Dr. LED" brand has a comprehensive line-up of replacement bulbs. But the brand has been around for a number of years.

I hope this helps!
