Dinette Table Question

Our recently purchased 32+2 has a dinette table that has fold down sides. The table is really too low for my long legs and the sides fold down rather than up. I see others where the sides fold up to make a more narrow table. Is there an adjustment to make ours do that? Might need to get a smaller table.

We have the same table and the hinges are fixed. Even without long legs, the table is a mixed bag. We especially don't like that it has to be removed to access the important bilge below. I've thought about a smaller table, but haven't done anything about it.

Our 32+2 has table sides that fold up, see picture with half folded up. Albin appears to have changed to the fold down design in the early 2000s. The old fold-up design works well for us, I had a similar issue sliding in when we looked at newer models.

Regarding bilge access- our table base is fixed to a square fiberglass section which is not screwed down on our boat, so access to the bilge below is easily obtained by pivoting the table towards the sink/fridge where it rests on its edge. We've never had an issue with table stability with this setup- the fiberglass section is recessed and table weight is biased away from the sink.

Hmm. I think the fold up design makes much more sense. If anyone has one they would like to sell, let me know!

I agree that the fold-up table is the better choice.

Joe, when you say you pivot the table to get access, do you mean that you tip it and the attached floor toward the sink? And then kind of crawl around it to get to the bilge?

Also, in your photo, I see something that looks like a knob or handle below the forward dinette seat. Do your seats have vertical access panels? The bilges below our dinette seats can only be accessed by moving the cushions out of the way and picking up the access hatches.

Nancy, that's correct- the table tips over then rests on its edge and we work around it. No vertical access panels- the black circle is a 12V plug installed by the previous owner. Our areas under the seats look similar to yours- same shower sump, similar battery setup (albeit we don't have 2 8Ds), same charger location, a/c intake, different bus bar layout.

Thanks, Joe. I really would like to have easier access to the bilge below the table. It's a little complicated because there's a teak and holly panel that sits on top of the hatch and fiberglass.

Actually, I tip my table in the opposite direction, leaning it against the settee. When I do that, I can reach down into that compartment very easily. And if I really need to dig down there, I just pull the table out of its post and move the floor hatch out of the way. I'd send a photo, but I am in Mexico for the week. I'll send one next week.
