Window shades or curtain ideas 32+2

Post by Luvinlife »

We recently purchased a 32+2 and was wondering what others do for shade on the interior windows. I’ve seen a little short, pleated blinds, which look great, but I don’t know where you can find them. Any input would be appreciated. Pictures will be even better! Thanks in advance

You're referring to the large sliding windows in the salon, right? I've seen photos of several kinds of solutions including pleated shades as well as conventional curtains. I think the pleated blinds can be ordered to size from Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. I'm not sure how to fasten them, and you might want a way to secure them at the bottom.

Our 35CB has Phifertex coverings on the outside. They're fine, but I don't always have them up. I'm thinking about making coverings out of the same fabric for the inside. Here's a photo I collected somewhere along the way:

I discovered a Sailrite video explaining how to make them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLP4zxk_kDk. I'm thinking about using velcro instead of snaps.

All of this has to wait until spring when I can take the sewing machine aboard. Much easier to do this kind of project in place.

Nancy, yes those are the windows I was referring to and I appreciate your response. We are not very good at sewing so making something like the video shows is not an option. I’ll look into curtains or pleated blinds. There is a Lowe’s near me. We could consider outside covers too but I’d need to locate a supplier.

You'd probably want to use a local canvas fabricator. As for curtains, I don't think you'll find anything ready-made that's the right size.

Try CloZures out of Dallas. They made custom blinds for our windows that are flat, don't gather dust and open/close with a touch. https://www.zarcor.com

Hi Thomas -- Did you use Clozures on the sliding salon windows? They're the greatest invention since sliced bread for the port lights. Beautifully engineered, just perfect. Do you have to remove them to open the salon windows? I assumed (probably a bad idea) that you would.

No, the way they are engineered, we don't need to take them down to open the sliding windows. But in truth, we never open them anyway.
