Albin Dinghy?

Post by Kelso »

I have a 17 ft. open sailboat with no markings but the sail has an insignia that looks like the Albin star. It has the letter P applied over it. Does anyone know if they ever tried a prototype dinghy?

It took some research but I found the link between Albin and my boat: the naval architect Joe Puccia. He worked for Albin and Alcort boat builders. He designed the Discoverer 18, the Pirate 15 and the Severn 20 sailboats as well as the Albin 27 cabin cruiser. He apparently designed and built the Pirate 15 with the Analopis Sailboat Builders starting in or about 1969. It is a great design and sails beautifully. As soon as I put it in the Barnegut Bay and hoisted the sail, I knew it was a great little boat.

Great detective work! Love the story! How about posting some photos of your sailboat?
