A good way to solve this problem is to tie or splice a short length of rope into a loop, then use it to tie a prusik knot (https://www.netknots.com/rope_knots/prusik-knot) onto the anchor rode. Then you can hook or shackle a bridle into it and tie the ends of the bridle into your two bow cleats. It's never a good idea to use your windlass as a mooring bitt.
Thx Ben. Yes - I have always tied anchor lines off on a cleat on my previous boats (I have always had chain / line rode). That's why I am confused by the design of the pulpit. What did the designers of the boat intend for anchoring?!

Hi Rob --

Check this thread - https://albinowners.net/aog/viewtopic.p ... eat#p65421.
In particular, see Pitou's post about cleating the anchor line to the existing cleats. And see Pedro's post for how to secure the anchor when not in use.

Thanks Nancy! Ok, that's what we did today. Worked fine, just didn't seem like that was what those pulpit chocks were designed for. Was wondering if I was missing something!

I know what you mean about the anchor chocks. For years we thought ours were installed backwards. When we installed a new windlass, it was the perfect time to turn them around. Guess what - they still seemed backwards! Solved the problem by installing cleats on each side of the windlass. In hindsight, one probably would have been enough.
