Repairing the Gunwale Vents

Post by jrhess3 »

The front rod holder on the starboard side was bumped and pulled through the panel and broke the vents

Sourced the vents from this ebay seller: https://www.ebay.com/str/searayman13
Then had to remove the indented panel that holds the rod holders and the vents.

There are 9 screws and silicone holding the panel in place. After an hour or so of scraping the silicone the panel came out pretty easily.

The rod holder was an easy fix

I used stainless washers where the small screws on the rod holder pulled through.

Replaced both vents

Looks great! And not too difficult. Just time- consuming. Thanks for posting!
