Welcome to AOG and Albin ownership.

A good place to get started in educating yourself is by reading the Tony's Tips articles on the Seaboard Marine website. Though mostly geared toward Cummins marine diesels, the articles are applicable across all diesel brands.

Two pieces of advice:
1) Find a good diesel mechanic with good references and treat him/her like gold - provide praise, treats and beer as needed. Ask him/her if you can watch because A) its a good way to learn; B) if the answer is yes, they have nothing to hide.

2) Purchase and read "Troubleshooting Marine Diesels" by Peter Compton. He's a fellow Brit and explains the miracle of diesel engines clearly and concisely, with good pictures.

Good luck with (1) Enjoy (2)

Welcome aboard.
Glad to see you have a diesel engine, if you know which brand/model, feel free to ask questions, if any. :)

Thanks for the warm welcome and recommendations guys! I do have some theoretical knowlege about diesels, but never actually worked on one. It was a hard decision but I decided that I'll handle it.
