It’s been an AMAZING 5 years!

Post by Bearkeley »

We’ve been fortunate to have Mary Jo, our custom A27 as our home on the water as we cruised approximately 5,0000 miles around the Chesapeake Bay, the Atlantic ICW and most recently, the Florida Loop. However, we have decided to travel internationally the next several years and decided to put her up for sale.

An ad is posted in the classifieds, but since members of this forum have been instrumental in providing tips and ideas to Captain Vic when he was renovating and customizing Mary Jo, we felt the need to let you know as well.

We owe a lot to this group. When we were shopping for a boat, a fellow member, Doug, took us out for a ride on Mazboot and encouraged us to search for the right boat. Eventually, we found Mary Jo through the listing on this forum and on one of our first trips on Mary Jo, met many welcoming Albin Owners at the Chesapeake Rendezvous.

Thank you all!

Best wishes & fair winds! We're not too many years away, maybe four of five at best, from being in the same position, so I get where you're coming from. We've done a lot over the past eight years with our A25 but we're not getting any younger and the Admiral would like to eventually move on to traveling around Europe before we get too old & decrepit. It's tough to trailer a boat all the way to Europe.

You guys were great to take for a spin around Herring Bay when you were looking for a 27, and your patient search served you well. Mary Jo was/is a super vessel. I'm sure you'll miss her as much as AOG will miss your inputs and adventures. Be sure to stay on forum, whether in Timbuctoo, Paris, Pulau or Oz. And if you return to DC look in at the Alex City Marina F-05.
Good luck on your travels.

I read all your posts ever since you posted a link to your trip on the ICW, if I remember correctly. Only five years? We've had the WillieC for going on 9 years and feel like we've just begun. Goes to show how life goes at its own pace for everybody.

Wishing you the best with all your future endeavors! And please don't be strangers here at AOG. Your experience has value you cannot put a price on.

We noted the recent passing of Captain Vic with great respect. You guys were very fortunate to have met him, from all reports, and had a great time no small thanks to all his hard work, to say nothing of the improvements you made on the boat. But when the time comes, it's time. Good for you for knowing that and acting. I'll probably go down in the WillieC on a sunny day on the Canal way past time when I should have passed her on.

The next owner of Mary Jo has big shoes to fill.
