Home to Homer

Post by Serenity »

A buddy of mine was looking to buy a 28TE several years ago and they gave him a brochure, The brochure described a new Albin 28 owner cruising from Port Wittier to Homer, AK. At the time a video was made of this voyage. From the description of the voyage, it was really nasty with gale winds and 20 foot surges. From the brochure, the video was available for $10.00. The name of the boat was or is "You Betcha". Does anyone have a copy of this trip?

Have a Happy Bird Day.

Hey Mark,
The listed owner of YOU-BETCHA (1995 TE) is Robert Sramek. He is not a member here. Check your email, I'll send his address.

I like to see that as well,
Did a google search on the man and the boat, nothing popped up.

I'm not sure 8if this is what you are referring to, the article mentions a $10 video towards the end.

Bjorn, I have the same article. I sent a letter to the guy in Alaska and have yet to hear from him. I did read that Valdez, Alaska was cut off from the rest of the world due to a massive avalanche. Maybe, that that has something to do with it. I spoke to Ken at Standish Yachts and he remembers the video and will look for it after all the boats are put into hibernation. If this cold keeps up, the bay should be frozen soon.

I’d love to find it too, my wife and I are the new owners of You-Betcha. We bought it last spring and it is based on Homer still.

Dylan - I have a copy on VHS tape somewhere in the bowels of my basement. Given to us as propaganda by the dealer when we ordered our 28TE in 1996. I'll try to dig it up for you. It was an impressive trip!

I will chip in to have the tape digitized onto DVD, $40 total maybe, split 10 ways?

Why not get a copy of it an upload it to youtube? I assume it isn't breaching any copywrites?
