Specifications discussion
Any Flush Deck -28TEs in South Florida?
Never been on one, would sure like to visit and look around.
Had the choice 4.5 years ago and decided I would look at either model, but
never got close to a F/D.
Same fresh water tank capacity as the Box model? 26 g main tank and 6 g water tank, for a total of 26 usable?

Re: Flush Deck vs. Engine Box
Norseman, with the water heater being upstream of the pump, are you considering it as usable gallons above the capacity of the actual water tank? I guess you could drain it into jugs or such...

Re: Flush Deck vs. Engine Box
Sorry, it was a TYPO:
Un-Usable water.
Jeez, tried to make a point, then I made the exact opposite point and I was
sober when I wrote the above post:
In a nutshell:
Anybody who bought an Albin 28TE with the specs being a 36 gallons
fresh water tank and a 20 gallon holding tank got screwed.
Am I the first owner to complain, 20+ years later?
Surely this is old news? ONLY 26 gallons usable fresh water, ONLY 10 gallons usable, if that, in the holding tank.
Not a warm and fuzzy feeling after discovering the above.
Marketing for sure and I still love my boat.
Would I buy it again?
Yes, but I would also be disappointed again: Water 2/3, holding 1/2?
WTF...?
Too late for a class action law suit.

Re: Flush Deck vs. Engine Box
Damn a 10 gallon holding tank in your 28TE .. mine only had a 6 gallon!
The marketing spin doctors at Albin published a "water capacity" of 73 gallons for the 31TE. The bulk water tank is 65 gallons, the hot water tank is 6 gallons, so they must account for the remainig 2 gallons being in the hot & cold water lines. In this fashion it does add up. I think the key word is "capacity". They say nothing about usable.
The "capacity" listed for the 28TE states 36 (including 6 gallon water heater) Doing the math for water lines it sounds like Oden's "capacity" is pretty darned close!
Apparhently, the Albin marketing team took their creative approach from those that write the daily snow reports from our New England ski areas who sometimes refer to rain as "liquid snow"!

It was a 10 gallon holding tank, now it is 18 gallons:Damn a 10 gallon holding tank in your 28TE .. mine only had a 6 gallon!
Installed a new head last year, new plumbing and new tank, also new above water thru hulls, etc.
I will look at the old literature again to see if it says 36 gallon tank, or 36 gallon
capacity. At the end of the day only 26 gallons is usable.

Re: Flush Deck vs. Engine Box
Looked at the official Albin specs:
The holding tank is indeed advertised as 20 Gallons:
The fresh water tank mentions both Fresh Water as well as Capacity including water heater.
There is a piece of good news however: The fuel capacity is listed @ 132 Gallons, but my tank build plate shows 134 gallons.
Winn some, lose some..

Re: Flush Deck vs. Engine Box
Have you ever done the LxWxH and converted the Cu Ft to Gallons for the water and holding tanks?

Re: Flush Deck vs. Engine Box
Yes...
The holding tank was easy: After I got it out and before it ended up in the dumpster I measured it. 10 gallons based on outside measurements.
The water tank was measured with a flow meter:
Empty tank, fill it up: 26 gallons.
A bit short of the 36 I anticipated.
Perhaps I was too honest and too naive: 36 means
36. Not so.
My bad.

Re: Specifications discussion
Good idea.
I have the old Albin brochure for all the Albin models year 2001.
If anybody wants to see the factory specs for your boat, let me know and I will take a picture and post right here.

If you can, Scan the brochure as a PDF and send to John for the document library.
