Re: Changing to an Aetna tach from a stock Yanmar
When I installed the Aetna on my 28TE 6LP I ran a new twisted shielded wire from the gauge to the sensor and grounded the shield to the block. All was perfect. My current boat had the Aetna's already installed by prior owner and he connected to the existing OEM harnesses right up at the helm. All has been perfect with that as well. If I were doing the fresh install of one I would run the new wire and be done but you may be okay with existing. Every install will be different based on equipment and noise..

I installed my Aetna with the existing wiring of the Yanmar standard harness in my 2001.
No issues after three seasons. Don.

Also, I installed it in the factory Yanmar panel. The gage is ever so slightly smaller that the opening which I solved with a large O ring. Don.
