Thanks guys. That was the February/March 2020 issue of BoatUS magazine. COVID forced us to cancel the 2020 cruise plans that we talked about in the article. We managed to do about half of the Erie Canal last year & met "Tribologist" with his A25 "Driftless" in the process. We've since changed our minds about "looping" back east in the future & will stick with the Pacific NW going forward. Last year was an expensive 5,800 mile trip that got cut short due to weather. Besides the expense of truck fuel at 11 mpg we ended up staying in hotels on the road instead of our usual boat camping due to hot & humid August weather going across the country. Then incurred $2,900+ in truck repairs on our '06 RAM diesel 4X4 after our muffler broke (probably due to years of salt water getting into the muffler from launchings) and our front end steering system needed to be rebuilt due to being 16 years old and thousands of miles of rough roads. Better than spending $70K on a new truck or $40K on a comparable 5 year old used one though. We'll see what happens this year. Want to go back to BC again, but with the Ukraine conflict now who knows what will happen with fuel prices. Every 10c increase in fuel price adds $29 to overall truck fuel cost going to Blaine, WA & back. $1/g increase adds $290 to the tab.
