My new albin (I just purchased it) has been drydocked for most of the summer
My problem is, I need a new strut for the cutless bearing and it has to be made.
the guy who has the job is either too busy or can't do the job.
I keep asking the marina mechanic for a delivery date and he says he can't get one. He did say that If I can find a reliable source he will give the job to that source.
Do you guys have any people you would recommend?
I've given up on getting the boat in the water this year, so whoever gets the job basically has till next spring to get the part
The boat is an Albin 28
I need help

Re: strut (holder) for cutless bearing
Sorry that you are getting the run around.
Buck Algonquin made the original stern bearing housing for the 28 and used to show them on their website. Their products are available through their dealer network with all running gear, shafting etc. sourced by Albin through H&H Propeller Shop in Salem, MA.
H&H has all of the records and would be a good place to call to get this done.

If for any reason that you strike out with Buck Algonquin, R.E. Thomas Marine Hardware of Maine is another good bet. They have stock housings and are very capable of custom work as well. Many downeast builders utilize their services.

Re: strut (holder) for cutless bearing
Here is a link to what I think is the original replacement
https://catalog.hydrasearchrecreational ... val-flange
This may be the one for the 28TE?

Re: strut (holder) for cutless bearing
thanks for all your help
I finally got the part from hydrosearch ( Buck Algonquin.)
I was so pissed that I had to wait 5 months but I was delighted with the reception I got. I dont know if I was just lucky
it arrived within a week of my phone call
I am now looking at chartplotters. I dont trust my raymarine C 80, but the boat is out of the water. Is it possible to test the various functions with the boat on land
or do I have to wait till spring
once again
thanks
mike
