hello,
I removed the prop of my 1998 28 TE with the vetus 23KGF thruster.
I do not see any plug in the bottom of the gearcase and where does it fill from
just would like to do the maintenance as not sure of the history on it.
thanks.

Re: Vetus 23 KGF oil change
Let me know if you find one ,
I asked the Vetus rep and he said the 23kg didn’t have a drain plug to change oil?! I can’t see a drain fill on mine ,,,

Re: Vetus 23 KGF oil change
The oil fill on the BOW2312 (23 kgf) thruster is on top of the "tailpiece" (drive unit). The motor must be removed to access it; not too difficult if you're DIY. Just be sure the level is up to the top. The Vetus rep told me normal outboard lower unit oil is fine. The manual states the tailpiece is "lubricated for life", so no oil change intervals if no leaks. There is no drain so to change it you'd have to extract it with a syringe or something unless the unit was removed during haul-out and drained upside down.
