Interesting data, I pulled it into an xls and played with the size, prices and years. As expected the $'s fall off with each year but there are some interesting things. For the 28's some paid more than listing (one at 109%) and then some got a great deal (one at 43%), but in general the average came to 93% of ask.
Tranmkp, do you know the timeframe for this, ie.. 2007 ?

Nice job Matt, on the average maybe the data can provide some insight. However, I obtained those reports during my boat-searching period and never felt comfortable with the data. Boats sold for actual list, more than list, very quick sales, etc. I used the info for what I thought it was worth, and that wasn't much. Now that I see what I believe to be my purchase I can safely say the data is not accurate. The Sold price is inflated. Who supplies the Sold price, the brokers? What's the sense of having data if you can't trust it....

Data
When looking at the data in a graph format we have to take the small sample size into account. There are only about 1000 Albin 28's in existence so the total number sold in a year class would be pretty small. A sweetheart deal (inter family gift for example) or two could distort the chart considerably. You also are comparing apples to oranges (Yanmars to Penninsular). I find the chart, in general, pretty accurate.

My 31' TE purchase price is on the list and is $20,000 below what I actually paid for it. As I understand it, these prices come from brokers only, no private transactions. There is a dis-incentive for the brokers to show a lower price than the asking price. My broker was quick to print out the past sales from Yachtworld to show me what a great deal I was getting.

I have to agree about the data, as Mike pointed out if the brokers are happy to show it to you then its got to be higher. Just another marketing tool like the car dealers who will show you their cost,,,yea......
If you take 5-10% off those sold prices, it might be more accurate.
I cannot comment on mine, I bought it private. The seller did work with a broker, but refused to sign a contract. I found him privately and bought it privately. He did say the brokers told him that you must sign the contract, but I guess you do not have to.

All, The data is just that data, I have no idea if its acurate or not - It is all broker imput so you can take it for what it is worth... Its just a perspective.

Prices
I see what I believe is my purchase on the list. It shows the actual purchase price, but a lower ask than the original. The buyer did drop it after my first offer then accepted my second.
