Re: 2008 Albin TE 28 Courtesy lights
Hey Dag, yeah I replaced them. They work great but I’m not a huge fan because they seem kind of bug and bulky under the dinette. I’m sure someone will kick one and break it. I should have left well enough alone

Ouch, ok.
On the other hand, we don’t have the dinette table anymore.
Full time bed, the hydraulic cylinder under the table was removed, but kept in storage in case we sell the boat.
(The only time we spend time inside the cabin is to sleep, go to the bathroom or make food/coffee. No lounging or hanging out, too nice outside in Florida)

I replaced mine years ago with the Hella brand, Stainless rim with the blue light - they work great.

Yes, correct but was the Hella lights LEDs back in March 2001?Tree wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 5:56 am I thought the originals were made by Hella?

(The above is my boat)On the back it says Hella, New Zealand, 12 volts, 0.7 Watts.
15 years ago I converted my sailboat’s lights to LEDs and it was rather expensive, a masthead was hundreds of $$ and an inside fixture was $30-40.
21 years ago, when my Albin 28TE was made, the prices were probably more.
Hence I am questioning whether the courtesy lights are real LEDs.?
(They sure look like it)

Dag, mine are original at year 2000 and are LED - no way can they be halogen since they never get warm and the wattage is low.

Good point.
I guess Albin was ahead of the game installing LED lights back then.

Success! They appear well made and require no new holes. Haven't tried at night yet but so far so good. I think I'll put these ones in the cabin and move those ones out to the transom area.
