Hey gang, on my list of spring projects is a new battery storage box. I'm currently making fiberglass repairs under the helm to delete an unused depth transducer, so adding in blocking or bracing prior to bilge paint isn't a problem. The prior solution was a wooden box which wasn't worth salvage, so looking for suggestions on what others are using?
I'm running 2 deep cycle batteries, hoping for a USCG approved box that fits under the helm floor board, something nice and tidy.
Suggestions and photos welcome, always happy to see what others are doing..
Thanks much.
Jason

Re: A25 - Battery Box Options
I found a crate that took two deep cycle storage batteries. That i screwed down to a shhet of plywood. That rest on a pvc pipe next to the motor bed. The straps holds it down. The start battert has a frame. On top goes another plywoos cover then there is a shelf that lay on the ledge on the hull side so i end up with a large flat storsge area on top. The pump for the AC unit is mounted over the cable harness now.

Re: A25 - Battery Box Options
Thanks for the photos, that is similar (less the third battery) to how mine was arranged. When I pulled the existing battery box to delete the unused transducer below, it showed it wasn't worth reusing. Maybe best/easiest to just replace with similar and not worry too much about it..

Re: A25 - Battery Box Options
I've talked about my 20 gallon holding tank project before in which I relocated my bank of three group 27 batteries, 1 start and 2 house batteries in parallel from under the helm seat floorboard to the starboard bench seat locker to make room for the larger holding tank. I would say a wooden platform under that helm floorboard would be OK with the batteries contained in the usual black plastic battery boxes & strapped down. I would add that I added 250 amp buss fuses to the positive posts of each battery.
