Very cool! Please share the details. How did you decide on brand and size?
Have you sea-trailed it yet?

Re: did a thing today.....
its a quick x13 Dc went with this size based on naval architect recommendation based on vessel.
went with quick for a couple reasons
air cooled, less maintenance, simpler to install, cost, support, etc
no sea trial yet hopefully splash next week

Re: did a thing today.....
its a 2007 35te
posted the report, black is off red is on. the amount of roll it reduced is amazing
its amazing, tied to mooring at the reef no one else around due to the wind and rough seas.
turned this on and the boat stopped rocking instantly.
very impressed

Very interesting. I've never given it thought. Keep us updated on the sea trial.

Re: did a thing today.....
100 amp @ start up but that reduces by 80-90% once its spooled up.
maintenance is grease @ 500hrs
its air cooled so much simpler compared to sea water cooled gyros

Nice, I need to look into such a gizmo.go.boating wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 3:12 pm 100 amp @ start up but that reduces by 80-90% once its spooled up.

Roughly 15 amp/hours after it is spooled up, 150 amp/hours overnight?
Ouch, can’t do, even if I get the smaller model and it only burns 8-10 amp/hours.
No generator and fairly small house bank, good for my present needs with fridge, music and light while at anchor, but not for this thingy, will look further into it however.
Thx

Re: did a thing today..... gyro
Hi
I’m looking at a Quick gyro. X5 for my albin28
It weighs about 550 pounds
Is there any info you can supply from the naval architect re how he calculated that your gyro was right for your boat
Many thanks
